Planning context

There is an urgent and significant need for new homes in London and LB Barnet, as identified in the London Plan and the draft Local Plan. The site is allocated for residential development in the draft Local Plan and represents a significant opportunity to build the homes that Barnet and London more widely needs.

This offers a significant opportunity to address the hidden and isolated environment on the site and celebrate and enhance High Barnet station through residential-led development.

There were previous proposals for up to 300 homes on the site brought forward by Taylor Wimpey and TfL in 2019, however these were withdrawn in 2021.

We have reviewed those previous proposals and sought to learn the lessons, bringing forward a more sustainable and sensitively designed proposition for the site that will enhance the way people experience High Barnet station through a new development providing much-needed new homes.
